Ecological Tales

Scuola Media St. Piumati, Bra Italy

Project Description

We are tryng to imagine many ways to recover waste materials.

First, we have to tell a short tale about an object. Next, we imagine an other object made with the same material, that was wasted. Finally, we draw the two situations: before and now.

Here are some examples of our tales. Maybe you would like to share some of your own with us and The Wild Ones.

Our Ecological Tales

I was Earth ...Now I am a brick.

Once I was earth. I was soaked by the spring rain and swept here and there by the wind. One day I heard heavy steps on me. Then an iron shovel pierced me and loaded me on a big truck. As soon as I arrived the truck overturned and lowered me on a conveyor belt. From there I passed in many damp moulds and then in a kiln where, after being packed I was taken away. Now I am nailed to a wall where everyday some children play ball against me: how I regret the good old days!

I was a sack, now I'm an exercise book.

I was a sack, always messed up and hurled on the floor: my owner was very untidy and forgot me under some furniture. I lay on the floor all summer, forgotten by everybody. Fortunately, in the fall, someone took me away. At the "Poor Object Help Office" I was transformed into a nice, coloured exercise book. Now I'm happy. I'm useful again and a nice little girl writes her homework in me!

Carolina (11 years old)

I was a plastic bottle, now I am a little ball.

Once I was a bottle and I might contain any kind of drinks to pour into thirsty people's glasses. I poured tea, coke, water, and orange juice. Children were happy to receive a little of it. I'm here now, inside a toys basket along with one thousand other toys. I'm a little ball that flies in the sky here and there, maybe I will be bitten by a dog and broken into another thousand pieces and later I'll became a bottle again!
