Pennsylvania Animals: Pickerel Frog
(Rana palustris)
The pickerel frog looks similar to the leopard frog. The pickerel frog's skin is smooth. The pickerel frog's skin is a tannish-grayish. The pickerel frog's spots are rectangular. The pickerel frog gets to be 2 -4 inches long. and lives in damp meadows. The pickerel frog eats caterpillars, crayfish, spiders and anything that it can kill. The snakes don't pay any attention to the pickerel frog or his look-a-likes. The pickerel frog spends a lot of time out of the water. The pickerel frog prefers steady water most. You will find them in marshes. by Brent
