A gray squirrel is gray. It lives in a tree. It lives all over the world but mostly in North America. It eats nuts, buds, stems, and roots. Its relatives are chipmunks, mice, and other rodents. Like all rodents, squirrels have two pairs of large front teeth for gnawing. Gray squirrels can be tamed enough so they eat out of your hands. Before winter, there is a lot of food. Gray squirrels collect a lot of food and hide it in hiding spots. When winter comes, gray squirrels use their sense of smell to find their food. Gray squirrels are very good at jumping from branch to branch. By Sean

Squirrels are mammals like us. They climb trees. They eat leaves and berries. They are sometimes seen in parks or out back. There are lots of varieties: gray, black (phase of the gray squirrel), white (albino) and European Red squirrels. They are fat, but not that big. They are scavengers. They steal food from us ,but they are wonderful creatures. Sometimes they eat plants. They have very thick coats in the winter.
