The red squirrel is very territorial. Territorial means that it guards and protects its territory and home turf. In summer, red squirrels have lightweight coats. Their tails are thin in winter. A red squirrel's color is rusty red. The red squirrel is a very fast runner and climber. A red squirrel's favorite things to do are to eat, to climb and to sleep. by Michael

The Red Squirrel is very territorial. If another squirrel trespasses into its area, it will try to scare it away by stamping its feet, hissing and chattering. The red squirrel lives mostly in trees. It eats nuts. It is about a foot long and about three inches wide. It is very fast, and it has sharp claws and sharp teeth. It is a mammal. It doesn't migrate. It hibernates over the winter. In the fall it collects nuts. It is mostly active in the fall. It hibernates in hollow trees, nests made of leaves and holes in the ground. Its main enemies are cars, cats, dogs, mink and weasels.
