Pennsylvania Animals: Black Bear

drawing by Ryan

I chose to do the black bear. Its scientific name is Ursus americanus. The black bear belongs to the mammals. The black bear looks like a bear with black fur. It lives in the mountains and the woods. They eat trash, plants, fruit, and field mice. There are no enemies for the bear except for the humans. It protects with his teeth, claws, and his speed. It will stand up before attacking. The mother is very protective of its cubs and each other. It is a very big animal. It can live to be 30. They can run 20 miles per hour. They have a keen sense of smell. Not all of them are black. Some are brown and some of them have white spots on their chests. -Ryan
