Pennsylvania Animals: Raccoon

drawing by Ryan

Our animal is the raccoon. It's scientific name is Procyon lotor and it's a mammal. The raccoon looks like a small fox. It lives in a hole (or sometimes in a chimney) and it eats snakes, clams, and insects. A bob cat and a fox will eat a raccoon and when something tries to kill it, it climbs up a tree. It's family life is taking care of the young and the family. The thing about them that is interesting is that they are smart. -Ed and Ryan
