The Peregrine Fund

is an organization dedicated to the conservation of raptors. Their work includes captive breeding and reintroduction of the Mauritius Kestrel. http://www.peregrinefund.org/MaurKest.html

The Raptor Center of the University of Minnesota

web site includes sound clips of the voice of several raptor species and a link to a live shot of a Peregrine nesting site on the 32nd floor of Montreal's Stock Exchange. The Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve

in Alaska has a web page that describes the Preserve and includes a sound clip of Bald Eagles. http://www.haines.ak.us/eagles.html

Ask a Zoologist

http://medinfo.wustl.edu/~ysp/MSN You can e-mail a scientist using the "Mad Scientist Network" from Washington University on the Internet. Be sure to follow the e-mail guidelines when using this site.

Zoos of the World

http://www.now2000.com/bigkidnetwork/zoos.html "KidsWorld 2000" lists major zoos, aquariums, and wildlife centers around the world that have web sites. By clicking on any name on the list, it will take you to the web site of that particular zoo. Many of the sites have virtual tours.

Pictures of Animals

Pet Station for Kids
http://petstation.com/kids.html This is a safe place for kids to talk about their pets and meet other kids around the world who also love pets.
Animal Guessing Game
http://www.animalgame.com This is a way for you to play a game with the computer. At this site, you are asked to think of an animal and the computer will ask a series of yes/no questions. Then the computer will try to guess your animal. The more you know about the animal, the more fun the game becomes.

NPR's Science Friday Kids Connection

Journey North 1997: Monarch Butterfly

http://www.learner.org/content/k12/jnorth/1997/critters/monarch/index.html The Journey North is an interactive internet project that follows the change of seasons through the migrations of several species including monarch butterflies.

Map the Monarchs!

http://www.ed.uiuc.edu/Activity-Structures/Information-Collections/Pooled-Data-Analysis/Map-The-Monarchs.html Details a monarch migration mapping project that students can join. Also offers information on monarch behavior and physiology.

Monarch Watch

http://www.keil.ukans.edu/~monarch/home.html News on the University of Kansas monarch tracking and tagging project. Includes monarch biology, population, and migration information and a curriculum development section that includes a list of resources.
