As the presidential election approaches, we are all pondering who will be the new president? All of those within legal voting age are actually deciding which president to vote for, or choosing to not vote at all. I wonder if other animals have a presidential preference?
A startling new study was recently completed, surveying opinions as to who the Black Lion Tamarin would vote for. The Black Lion Tamarin is a small Brazilian monkey, about 8 inches long, and covered with dense black hair. It is endangered, with less than 200 left in the wild, due mainly to habitat destruction. Which president would it vote for, Dole or Clinton? I asked around, and this is what I found.
Many people thought tamarins would favor Clinton, because he supports environmental conservation, whereas Dole supports business growth. However, a few pointed out, that there could be ways to promote both industry and rainforest protection at the same time. Most people thought tamarins would vote for Clinton, just to ensure protection. An animal might also vote for Clinton, because he supports foreign aid. This means the United States lends money to other countries to help protect their natural resources and create new industries.
Overall, it seems as if the Black Lion Tamarin would generally favor Bill Clinton, for his general democratic views, and for his specific environmental campaigns.
