Our sixth grade classes were very interested to see the environmental survey by Escola das Nações students in Brasilia, Brasil, in the Fall 1996 issue of the Wild Times. We surveyed our school with the same questions including teachers snd students and even some parents and were surprised at the answers. Students were much more concerned about the enviroment than the adults were! Nearly 90% of the school answerd yes to the question about participating in recycling. We got the principal to give us a start at recycling juice cans from the cafeteria and if that works we are going to expand the program.
We have learned that you have to do a lot of explaining in posters and with graphs to get lots of people to help even in this small start.
