The Wild Ones announces a new format for 2002-2003!
|
Dear TWO Member,
As conservation practices evolve in this new century, conservation education must also evolve. The Wildlife Trust, parent organization to The Wild Ones, has developed a new conservation paradigm, the Bioscape. The bioscape paradigm integrates both human and ecological needs in developing multidisciplinary conservation plans at a regional level. You can read more about the Bioscape Conservation Paradigm on this web site, on the Wildlife Trust web site, and in our current newsletters.
To better reflect the goals of the Wildlife Trust, and provide children and teachers with materials that use the bioscape model, The Wild Ones has taken on a new look and feel. You will still be able to find much of your old favorite content, but it may be connected in new ways. Each featured bioscape will include links to key species, projects, "Sense of Place" essays, and biographies of the people working in that bioscape.
We are excited about the changes and are confident that it will help our members to take a more active role at the top levels of the program. By sharing their "Sense of Place", members will help educate each other about bioscapes around the globe.
Features on the homepage are updated regularly during the academic year, so please log in regularly with your students. And teachers, don't forget to download your newsletters. Each newsletter for students and teachers is now produced as a PDF file that can be read in Adobe Acrobat. You may then print as many copies as you require for your classroom.
We look forward to seeing you on the web as you submit material for the newsletters, participate in on-line discussions, and send us feedback!
Thank you for participating in the success of The Wild Ones.
Together we can make a difference!
Sincerely,
Michael Wilkinson
